New, Cool, Diesel and Truck Products

Diesel Truck Products: As automotive-aftermarket trade shows go, the Specialty Equipment Market Association’s annual gathering in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the undisputed “main event” for parts manufacturers worldwide.

The SEMA show is the venue for companies to put their best feet forward, introducing and showcasing the latest innovations and technologies–mechanical and cosmetic–for modifying cars or trucks.

Naturally, new products designed for diesel-powered vehicles, specifically trucks, are on very top of our list of items we look for while wandering the numerous sections of the SEMA’s Central and South Halls. Since 2016 is the year of the 50th anniversary, here’s an overview of the 50 most exciting new products for trucks and diesel which were introduced at SEMA.

2.8L Air Improvers

The latest additions from AFE Power are BladeRunner intercooler tubes for the 2.8L Duramax I-4 engine that powers the 16 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. The tubes, which boost flow by 14 percent are direct replacements to the standard intercooler (the OEM intercooler is retained) and are coated with a texture-type coating to protect against corrosion and heat.

Cooling Protection

Pacific Performance Engineering has developed an entire Upper and Lower silicone hose kits that is designed to cover those 6.6L Duramax engines in all from ’01 to ’16 Chevrolet as well as GMC 3500HD as well as 2500HD pickups. Direct-replacement hoses measure 5mm thick and have 4-ply thermally resistant internal fibers. Kit includes T-style fittings made of stainless steel 304 that eliminate the possibility of leakage in critical unions; stainless, worm driven T-style clamps; as well as an aluminum quick-disconnect.

CARB-Legal Programming

Hypertech’s MaxEnergy 2.0 power programmer is now legal in 50 states for ’07-to-11′ Chevrolet as well as GMC 2500/3500 trucks equipped with an 6.6L Duramax engine and ’08-to-’10 Ford Super Duty trucks with the 6.4L Power Stroke. The program has three power levels, and stands out for us due to the fact that it currently comes with CARB acceptance for the two engines of diesel. In addition according to a representative from the company it is in the process of working to obtain approval for further platforms.

Tungsten Anyone?

Engine Works has developed a billet-steel connecting rod that is suitable for 5.9L or 6.7L Cummins engines. The custom rods, which are heat-treated, are CNC-machined, more durable than 4340 alloy rods and weigh 300 grams less than the stock rods. The caps for bearings are attached to four 3/8-inch ARP rod bolts to provide extra durability. The bushings are made of premium, U.S.-made bronze. The use of an odd alloy to avoid the possibility of a connecting rod failing in a high-performance engine caught our attention.

Cools Big Boost

A cooling system that can handle huge quantities of boost that are used in diesel engines that are high-performance is essential. This is the reason the reason Northern Radiator developed its line of performance intercoolers that replace stock. These coolers can handle boost pressures as high as 100 psi as well as temperatures of 500-500 degrees. They are engineered to deliver greater density and cooler air through internally reinforced tubes with chambers with tiny fins that increase the surface space and encourage airflow to increase heat transfer. Northern Radiator has intercoolers that will fit Dodge, Ram, GM and Ford trucks equipped with turbocharged diesel engines.

Improved Intake Airflow

Diamond Eye Performance introduced its new Performance Air Intake Elbow kits for Power Stroke-powered ’94-’07 Fords and Cummins-powered ’89-to-’07 Dodge Ram trucks. The powdercoated, mandrel-bent elbows have flanges cut by CNC, which increase airflow and reduce temperature of exhaust gases.

Screaming Deal

Are you in search of an increase in power for your vehicle’s turbocharged Cummins engine, but you don’t want to re-do the whole system by installing an even larger turbo? BD Diesel Performance now has a brand new replacement unit that can be installed as a drop-in that is called known as the Screamer Turbo. It can be fitted to ’07 1/2-to-’16 Dodge Ram and Ram trucks It can also produce around 100 horsepower higher than stock turbine with no altering your ECM tune. The Screamer comes with an 64.5mm Ballistic 7+7 blade compressor wheel as well as a BD-tuned 70mm 12 blade turbine wheel that reduces backpressure and boosts flow. Both of these components are used in conjunction to reduce temperatures of the exhaust gas. Who doesn’t enjoy bolt-on power?

Breathe Deep

S&B Filters introduced its new high-performance cold-air intake kit designed for 5.0L Cummins-powered 15-to-16 Nissan Titan XDs. The intake improves the airflow to 48 percent and stops 99.8 percent of dirt. It can be installed by using the airbox’s original mounting points.

Feed the Beast

Large horsepower requires massive amounts of fuel. Aeromotive created its latest Pro-Series fuel pump specifically for this reason. The electric pump that is brushless makes use of a spur gear in order to provide 3.4 grams per minute at 60 psi using an 13.5-volt power supply and 3.0 GPM at 60 PSI using a 12 volt power supply. You must appreciate a fuel pump which can empty your tank in less than minutes!

Get a Grip

The ability to have solid traction regardless of the surface crucial for trucks that have been modified (especially pickups used in race) and Yukon Gear & Axle’s Dura Grip Postraction is a differential that meets the requirement for a good grip. Its Dura Grip is based on an older race-tested four-pinion design Yukon combined with the latest manufacturing techniques to improve durability and strength. The internals are manufactured from steel that is forged and 4320 in addition to include composite clutches. The fully rebuildable unit is designed for Dana 60 70, 80 and 60 axles.
